Felix Auger-Aliassime has unfortunately withdrawn from the upcoming Monte Carlo Masters, citing a knee issue that he has been struggling with for the past few weeks. The 22-year-old Canadian, who made it to the quarterfinals of Indian Wells and exited in the third round of Miami, won’t be participating in the tournament for the fifth time in his career. In his four previous appearances, Auger-Aliassime had two first-round and two second-round exits.
In an official statement, Auger-Aliassime expressed his disappointment at not being able to participate in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters this year. He explained that he has decided to take some time off to focus on fully healing and recovering from his left knee issue before his next tournament at the Mutua Madrid Open.
Auger-Aliassime is not the only player to withdraw from the tournament. Rafael Nadal, who hasn’t played since the Australian Open due to a hip injury, also announced his withdrawal, stating that he is not yet in a position to compete at the highest level. Carlos Alcaraz, another rising star in the tennis world, has also withdrawn due to post-traumatic arthritis in his left hand and muscular discomfort in the spine.
The absence of these three star players, including Auger-Aliassime, Nadal, and Alcaraz, is certainly a disappointment for the Monte Carlo organizers.
