Dominic Thiem Finds Winning Form in Estoril With a Comfortable Victory Over Ben Shelton
After a rough start to the season, Dominic Thiem has finally found his form during his favorite spring clay swing. Thiem won his first quarterfinal match since October last year against Ben Shelton in Estoril. He beat Shelton 6-2, 6-2 in just 63 minutes and expressed his happiness with his performance.
Thiem played well and hopes to continue to do so throughout the rest of the tournament. He also praised the playing conditions and his opponent’s abilities.
Shelton, who had only played two matches on clay before the match, could not match Thiem’s pace and struggled with his serve and errors.
Thiem broke Shelton five times and won 57% of the return points. His serve also worked perfectly, dropping only seven points in eight service games.
Despite a solid start by Shelton, Thiem quickly took charge and never faced any problems after the match’s first game.
