Patrick Mouratoglou, on his Instagram channel, always makes himself the protagonist of very interesting thematic videos on the world of both men and women’s tennis. The former tennis player as well as Holger Rune’s current coach, this timeĀ posted a video where he shows and explains his top five ATP players with the best serve of all time.
He opens this special classification, according to the French trainer, the 14 times slam winner Pete Sampras. In fourth place, however, Ivo Karlovic who boasts 13,728 aces in his career. The former US Open champion Andy Roddick opens the podium, instead.
Silver medal instead for another American as well as the player with the most ace in the history of tennis, John Isner (in July 2022 he surpassed Karlovic). In first place, according to Mouratoglou, we find Nick Kyrgios.
The French coach explained his decision to place the Australian on the highest part of the podium in his ranking as follows:
“Kyrgios is number one because today the players serve much better and without a doubt, today he is the best.”
The Australian, after an excellent 2022 which saw him reach a singles slam final for the first time (Wimbledon) and win the doubles slam at the Australian Open with Thanasi Kokkinakis, has not yet taken the court in 2023 due to of an injury that forced him to withdraw a few days before the start of the first slam of the year, immediately after his exhibition match against then tournament champion Novak Djokovic.
The Australian, among other things, communicated his absence also for the first two 1000s of the season in Indian Wells and Miami due precisely to this operation he underwent on his knee.
Kyrgios this year instead will return to play Roland Garros after years. The motivation is mainly amorous as stated by the 27-year-old from Canberra: “My girlfriend wants to see Paris, so I’ll be at the Roland Garros. And then earning some extra money never hurts. Of course, I would have preferred to stay at home, but I know I can achieve excellent results even on a surface like clay, but I repeat that I will only play for my girlfriend.”
