Indian Wells: Unstoppable Iga Swiatek’s in the last-8; Aryna Sabalenka joins her

Iga Swiatek, the world no. 1 in tennis, emerged victorious against Emma Raducanu in their highly-anticipated match-up in the fourth round at Indian Wells on Tuesday. Swiatek won the match 6-3, 6-1 in just 84 minutes, securing her place in the quarter-finals. She won 88% of her first-serve points and 56% of points on return against Raducanu’s serve.

Swiatek will play Sorana Cirstea next in her quest to defend her title at the tournament.

In other news from the tournament, Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed, also advanced to the quarter-finals after beating 16th seed Barbora Krejcikova 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

Sabalenka will face Coco Gauff, who defeated Rebecca Peterson in their round-of-16 match. Petra Kvitova survived four match points to beat third seed Jessica Pegula and set up a quarter-final match against Maria Sakkari. The last quarter-final match will be played between Karolina Muchova and Elena Rybakina.
