Bianca Andreescu shares update to fans after horrifying injury at Miami Open

Bianca Andreescu expressed her gratitude to those who reached out following a horrifying injury in Miami and revealed that she is still waiting on the official results of the severity of her leg injury.

Last night in Miami, Andreescu collapsed on the court while attempting to run the ball down during her round-of-16 match against Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Andreescu immediately started screaming in pain as she was heard yelling “not again” and “this is the worst pain I have ever felt.”

The medical team rushed to help Andreescu, who a few minutes later was assisted into a wheelchair.

“Woke up with a brace on my foot, anyone know what happened? On a serious note though, that was the worst pain Iā€™ve ever feltā€¦ praying for nothing serious. Still waiting on official results. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and kind words, doesnā€™t go unnoticed,” Andreescu tweeted.

Everyone was devastated for Andreescu

Just before suffering a horrifying injury against Alexandrova, Andreescu spoke about how good she was feeling about her game.

Andreescu, who also recently said her goal was to return to winning Grand Slams, then endured the worst possible end to her Miami campaign.

After Alexandrova reached the Miami quarterfinal via an Andreescu retirement, the Russian said it “was just painful to watch” what happened to the Canadian.

“Iā€™m just really sorry that it happened to [Andreescu]. Seeing her on the court in so much pain, itā€™s just painful to watch. You cannot help, you can do nothing, which is terrible. I think sheā€™s going to be fine soon, and Iā€™m wishing for her speedy recovery. The first set was super tough and great, and it probably could be a pretty good match for both of us, but unfortunately [Andreescuā€™s injury] happened,” Alexandrova said after the match.

It remains to be seen for how long will Andreescu be out of action.
