Iga Swiatek reveals lesson she has learned by watching Novak Djokovic

World No 1 Iga Swiatek suggests Novak Djokovic is the best example of what happens when a great player figures out how to be very consistent with his game and tennis.

Swiatek, 21, enjoyed a historic 2022 season.

At the start of the 2023 season, Swiatek reveals she is taking lessons from Djokovic as she believes that the key for her in 2023 and going forward is to simply deliver this level of tennis consistently.

ā€œI would say the differences are going to be smaller. The greatest players that are consistent throughout their whole careers, I don’t think Novak [Djokovic] changed a lot in his game since few years ago. I think it matters to be able to just be consistent with the best game you have. It worked, so why would I change a lot?” Swiatek said, as quoted on the Australian Open website.

Swiatek fit for the Australian Open

Swiatek kicked off her 2023 season at the United Cup, where she played four matches.

Swiatek was also scheduled to play in Adelaide 2, but she pulled out of the event due to a shoulder injury.

This week, Swiatek focused on getting the work on the practice court.

ā€œI had pretty solid practices, so I’m happy to be here and I’m happy that I have a long time to get the conditions and get the feeling of these courts. But I also enjoyed my time off. So, it’s a good combination. This is the first Grand Slam of the season, which makes it a little bit easier in terms of physicality because we should be more fresh. I always felt like I’m more ready for these longer matches and I can really push myself even harder,” Swiatek explained.

In the Australian Open first round, Swiatek is taking on Jule Niemeier.

Last year, Swiatek defeated Niemeier en route to winning the US Open.

Going into this match, Swiatek is the absolute favorite to win.
