Coco Gauff ended the season as number 7 in the standings and continues her climb. In recent years Coco has been considered one of the stars of world tennis, she is only 18 years old and yet she now has a great deal of experience on the Tour and this year she reached her first final in a Grand Slam tournament, defeated only by the unbeatable number one Iga Swiatek.
The young US star can undoubtedly be one of the big stars of 2023. Coco can and must aspire to collect the heavy legacy left by Serena Williams after her retirement. Gauuf, at just 18, already has plenty of experience on the WTA Tour, and this season she also played in (and lost) her first Grand Slam final. The first of many, probably. Therefore, despite the disappointing ending of 2022, Coco can dream big for next season, and not just on her beloved clay-courts.
She thus became the youngest Grand Slam finalist since the Russian champion Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon 2004. Now it’s time for the tennis player to prepare for next season.
The 2022 season ended badly with only defeats in the group stage of the WTA Finals. Now it’s time for the tennis player to think about 2023 and the American tennis player announced yesterday that she has officially resumed training for the new season.
