Novak Djokovic: “Coming back in to Italy is wonderfull”

Novak Djokovic is ready to compete in the Nitto ATP Finals 2022 in Italy to try and go in search of the title. With this main objective, the Serbian presented himself on the media day of the event scheduled at the PalaAlpitour in Turin starting from Sunday 13 November. Djokovic has the goal to match Roger Federer’s ATP Finals titles record.

The official first matchĀ of the Belgrade native against the Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas is scheduled for Monday 14 November. The Serb told: “It is a pleasure to come back to Italy, here I feel at home. The ambitions are always the highest: I have played well in the last few months, I hope and believe I can go far.”

The 35-year-old tennis champion ha experienced a really complicated first part of the season, in which he admitted the difficulty in staying calm on the pitch and that it had become a challenge with what was happening outside.

Then he returned to the triumph at Wimbledon, saying: “It made me feel more free, in the last few tournaments I played really beautiful performances. But the past is over, I hope to find my best tennis again this week for this prestigious appointment.”

On the next opponent Tsitsipas the Serb explained: “I have beaten him in the last two tournaments I have played, in the final in Astana and in the semifinals in Paris-Bercy. They have been two very tight matches, especially in France. I certainly expect it will be a tough matchĀ and very hard fought.

We will play here in total for five years and I think it’s perfect, the arena is really wonderful. We were really well received, they treat us in a special way.
