Holger Rune gave an interview on the sidelines of the ATP Finals in Turin, in which he is present as a reserve and hoped to take over until the last.
He explained: “I wish I had played, I still have that option. I was able to visit Turin, I love Italy. I already know how it feels for next year. Is there a new Big Four with me, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger Aliassime? I hope so, it would suit me.
I would feel privileged to be part of this group. But we still can’t rule out Rafa Nadal, who won two Grand Slam titles this year, and Novak Djokovic, who won one. In almost all the tournaments I am in the final. They have very long careers and we are very young.
On the court you have to be mature because playing against rivals like Djokovic you can’t afford to miss two shots in a row. There is no room to be angry about what happened in the previous game. You have to keep fighting and keep believing. I learned from matches with Djokovic because he inspires me no matter how much I beat him last time. How he behaves, how he plays. I am very young and I have yet to learn from the best. I’m number 10 in the world and if I have a lot to improve it’s a good sign.”
Holger Rune on his family
The young age does not seem to weigh on the court for the Dane, who reveals his life off the pitch: “I feel like a 19 year old boy, sometimes 16. When I’m playing well, I’d say 30. I’m pretty boring. chess, cards, that sort of thing I like more than the console. I used to play soccer as a kid and I liked Cristiano. The Danish team is fantastic and I can’t wait to see what they do at the World Cup.”
And he admits: “I would like to spend more time with my family, but it is true that many times they travel with me. My mother is always there, my father has come to Paris and my sister accompanies me to Turin. makes learning fast if you want to be at the top.”
