Barbora Krejcikova won the 2022 Tallinn Open on Sunday after toppling Anett Kontaveit in the final. The Czech, seeded third won against the top-seeded, home favourite 6-2, 6-3 in 81 minutes to claim the trophy.
Krejcikova won 78% of her first-serve points to Kontaveit’s 68%. She won 68% of her second-serve points and won 71% points on return on Kontaveit’s second serve. Krejcikova dropped her serve twice but converted five of the nine break points that came her way on the Estonian’s serve.

“Every trophy is special, especially in singles right now, where this year was really tough, so it means a lot. It was a really amazing week, a special week,” Krejcikova said.
Krejcikova also shared, “Really proud how I was able to bring my best performance for the final. I was expecting that Anett is going to play fast and she would try to put me under pressure from the first point. So I was just trying to play my game, and just trying to eliminate that. I just really wanted to go out there and play my best tennis and just try to enjoy the final, because it took me a lot of fight and energy to get there.”
This is Barbora Krejcikova’s first title since she won the Prague Open in July 2021. Meanwhile, her loss at the Tallinn Open closed Anett Kontaveit’s victory run of 24 straight matches on indoor surfaces.
