Although she was eager to perform in front of the Romanian public, Emma Raducanu will not play in the Transylvania Open, the WTA250 tournament hosted in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, because of a new wrist injury.
“Unfortunately, Emma Raducanu will not play at this edition of the Transylvania Open due to a wrist injury. We received this information recently. We know many fans wanted to see her on the court, and we would have liked to offer them this experience. However, tennis is unpredictable, and in such situations, the only solution is recovery. We wish Emma the best of health and to get back on the field as soon as possible. However, a strong tournament awaits us, and we are focusing on the final preparations. The players started arriving in Cluj. Last night we had Eugenie Bouchard, another great player from Canada who is an attraction at every tournament she plays. She will play for the first time in a WTA tournament organized in Romania”, said Patrick Ciorcila, Transylvania Open WTA250 tournament director.
Raducanu is going for a MRI
Emma Raducanu told Patrick Ciorcila, the tournament director of Transylvania Open, that she needs to go to have an MRI.
“We have to start with some bad news. Unfortunately, Emma Răducanu had to withdraw. Late last night I received this information from her. I also spoke with her agent, she just played the tournament in Ostrava and has a wrist injury that is forcing her to end her season prematurely. She was enlisted in Cluj, she was going to play in Guadalajara. She’s going back to London to get an MRI. Unfortunately, we have no way to fight these things, they are about the athletes’ health and we can only wish them the best. We are very sorry that she cannot be here, she was one of the main points of attraction for Cluj and the Romanian public,” said Patrick Ciorcila for Romanian publication GSP.
