After the WTA Finals were played in Guadalajara last year, following an interdiction for China to hold any WTA tournaments as a result of Shuai Peng’s case, the tournament will return in the USA for the first time since 2005. The exact location is Fort Worth, Texas.
The tournament will take place from October 31 to November 7 under a one-year agreement.
“The Dickies Arena and the city of Fort Worth has a proven track record of hosting world-class sporting and entertainment events, and we are excited to bring the WTA’s showpiece tournament back to the United States for the first time since 2005,” said Steve Simon, WTA Chairman and CEO. “This location and venue for the 2022 WTA Finals will provide a fantastic experience for players and fans alike and offer a fitting finale as another exciting season on the Hologic WTA Tour comes to a close.”
According to WTA, “since opening its doors in late 2019, Dickies Arena has hosted top-notch concerts and sporting events, including Paul McCartney, Michael Bublé and KISS as well as the NCAA Men’s Basketball first and second Rounds, the U.S. Gymnastics Championships and Bassmaster Classic. The arena continues to bring incredible shows to Fort Worth such as the Eagles, Post Malone, Chris Stapleton, George Strait plus many more still to come this year.”

“Oh my God. I have to make it. Look now we’re here…For me it was just a dream come true to play here,” Garbine Muguruza said with a huge grin after capturing her first WTA Final title in Guadalajara, Mexico over Aneta Kontaveit.
She’d been pushed to three sets and then many matches she won straight away. Garbine Muguruza was very happy with her performances in general and capturing the title in Mexico proving to be the best player on the WTA tour and the first Spaniard to ever win the crown.
