Petkovic posts bathing suit “thirst trap” revealing six-pack 1st day after retiring

After Andrea Petkovic announced her retirement, the German tennis player posted a photo marking her first day out of the WTA circuit that got some funny remarks.

“First day of retirement, enjoying my sixpack while it lasts!” Petkovic captioned the photo.

Caitlin Thompson, the founder of a media company about the culture of tennis, made Petkovic laugh with her comment: “Not even noon and you’re tweeting thirst traps from the beach what a legend,” wrote Thompson as Petkovic replied with a LOL.

Fellow retired tennis player Kirsten Flipkens also reacted to the photo. “My 1st day was exactly the same (in Ibiza). Enjoy my friend! Has been a pleasure to have you on tour,” wrote Flipkens.

Petkovic announced her retirement

Andrea Petkovic, the former world No. 9, has announced her intention to retire in the coming weeks. Petkovic, who turns 35 on September 9, has been a professional tennis player since 2006. Petkovic tagged one of her Instagram images with “Last Dance” a few days ago.

Petkovic hasn’t ruled out competing in certain European events this fall, but the US Open was undoubtedly her final Grand Slam. Petkovic is a seven-time WTA winner who made her only Grand Slam semifinal appearance at the 2014 French Open.

“I leave myself the option to play an additional tournament in Europe after the US Open that is closer to my family and friends – but in general that’s my last tournament,” Petkovic told Sportschau.

Petkovic also recently talked about how she wants to be remembered. “I think I would love to be remembered just what I mentioned in the beginning, the way I played the match today, which was always with grit and tenacity,” Petkovic said.

“I always fought for every point. I always was the most professional I could be. I always invested in my body. I always trained the hardest and the best I could. I was always open to new forms of training, trying new things.”
