Novak Djokovic suggests Roger Federer may not be done, crowd reacts (WATCH)

Novak Djokovic jokingly said there is hope Roger Federer returns one day and the London crowd made sure to let Federer know that they would absolutely love to see that scenario.

After Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini defeated Jack Sock and Alex de Minaur at the Laver Cup, Djokovic shared some thoughts on Federer retiring after the Laver Cup.

“I mean, there’s probably most of the people think that it’s never going happen but there is always a hope that Roger will come back. So we’ll play once again,” Djokovic said.

When Djokovic was asked about his own retirement, he confirmed that there are no plans to retire from tennis in the near future.

“I don’t feel yet so old, to be honest, for tennis career, for my tennis career to finish. I still feel my body is serving me, is listening to me well. That’s the key I think when you get to 35-plus,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic hopes to play for at least a couple of more years

Djokovic is 35 but still exceptionally fit and prepared.

Djokovic hasn’t really played that much this year, mostly because his vaccination status prevented him.

Even if Djokovic was allowed to play wherever he wanted, he would still skip tournaments as he is at the stage of his career where he needs to have an adjusted schedule.

“I am adjusting my scheduling much, much more, you know. I’m not playing as much as I played few years ago. I want to peak at the best tournaments, biggest tournaments in the world, which are Grand Slams and some of the biggest ATP events, playing for my country. That’s what gives me the most motivation and inspires me to play the best tennis. I really want to keep going. I don’t have the ending of my career on the horizon at the moment. I can’t give you a number of years. I don’t know,” Djokovic explained.

Djokovic is playing at the Tel Aviv Open this week, where he is the top seed.
