Serena Williams definitely plans to compete at this year’s US Open as the American’s name has appeared on the the tournament’s entry list released on Wednesday.
Williams, 40, made her US Open debut in 1998 and now she is set to make her 21st appearance at the tournament.
Below are the Men’s and Women’s entry lists for the 2022 US Open.

In her US Open debut, Williams suffered a third round defeat.
The following year, Williams lifted her first US Open title and that was just the start of her success at Flushing Meadows.
Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, has won six US Open titles in singles throughout her career.
Williams has also had doubles success at the US Open, winning two titles with her sister Venus Williams.
Williams set to return to the US Open
Last year, Williams was forced to skip the US Open after sustaining a serious injury at Wimbledon.
In 2020, Williams reached the US Open semifinal before losing to Victoria Azarenka in three sets.
After exiting Wimbledon, Williams confirmed her goal was to play at the US Open this year.
“When you’re at home, especially in New York, and the US Open, that being the first place I’ve won a Grand Slam, is something that’s always super special,” Williams said. “Your first time is always special. There’s definitely lots of motivation to get better and to play at home.”
In her first singles match of the year, Williams sustained a tight loss as Tan beat hear 7-5 1-6 7-6 (7).
Even though Williams admitted it wasn’t the most memorable Wimbledon for her, she said she was glad with the fight she put up.
“Definitely not. But today I gave all I could do today. Maybe tommorow I could’ve gave more. Maybe a week ago I could’ve gave more. But today was what I could do. At some point you have to be able to be OK with that,” Williams said.
Williams is expected to play two tournaments leading up to the US Open, Montreal and Cincinnati.
