Daniil Medvedev practicing with Wimbledon semifinalist ahead of Montreal

World No. 13 Cameron Norrie reveals he has been practicing with Daniil Medvedev in recent time.

Norrie, 26, reached his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon.

On the other side, world No. 1 Medvedev wasn’t allowed to compete at WimbledonĀ after the AELTC imposed players bans on Russian and Belarusian players.

Medvedev, who won the National Bank Open last year, is set to return to action at that exact tournamentĀ and defend his title in Montreal between August 07-14.

ā€œI have been down in France with Daniil Medvedev and itā€™s been great,ā€Ā Norrie said, per Tennis365.

Norrie enjoys being around Medvedev

Medvedev, 26, became a grand Slam champion after beating Novak Djokovic in the 2021 US Open final.

Norrie, who himself is hoping to become a Grand Slam champion, reveals Medvedev is his favorite player to watch.

ā€œHeā€™s my favourite player to watch. My coach is always messaging the best players to practice so hopefully you may get more leeway with some of the top guys when you have some success,” Norrie added.

Meanwhile, Norrie is hoping to help Great Britain win the Davis Cup Finals this year.

After the US Open, Glasgow will be one of the host cities for the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals.

ā€œGlasgow is an amazing venue, the people love their tennis and everyone got up for it the last time they held it there,ā€ Norrie explained. ā€œThey did a very good job especially with the stadium court and the atmosphere and acoustics. Iā€™m looking forward to playing at home and the whole team is excited. We want to put on a great show and especially for the young players coming through; hopefully we can inspire them. My game is improving and hopefully I can play my best tennis. I really like the team format having played college tennis. You are playing for more than yourself, you are playing for your team and country. Hopefully we can make home advantage count.ā€
