Before he will starting his tournament in Rome, Rafael Nadal was a guest of Fabio Fazio at the Italian tv show Che Tempo Che Fa, broadcast on Rai 3. An interview that touched on various topics: from injuries to the importance of Uncle Toni as a coach; from Wimbledon’s decision to exclude Russian tennis players from Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.
In the first evening of the third channel, the Spanish number one talked about himself, starting from the beginning up to future goals, other than tennis ones. Beyond the content, what struck Fabio Fazio and the public was above all the form.
The Spanish tennis player started his interview by speaking fluent Italian. After telling of the marriage proposal to his current wife, Maria Francisca Perello, right in Rome, the conductor wanted to enhance his oratory in a language not his own.
“Congratulations for the Italian,” said Fazio, followed by applause from the studio audience.
