Carlos Alcaraz was knocked out by Sebastian Korda in his first match at the Monte Carlos Rolex Masters 2022. The US talent doesn’t immediately take advantage of a set lead, but still makes a hefty disruptive maneuver in the second.
Needless to say, he recovers a late break, cancels five set points at 4-5 and apparently goes out only in the jeu decisif. When the balance pendulum inevitably seems to move towards Alcaraz, Korda remedies once again an almost desperate gap of 0-2 and this time with a mega-partial of 5-1 he definitively breaks the balance.
The 7-6 (4) 6-7 (5) 6-3 that he matures on the threshold of three hours and five minutes of play is practically a manifesto. In the other matches, Taylor Fritz, Indian Wells champion beats Marin Cilic. With 6-4 6-4 Laslo Djere beats Lorenzo Sonego, Jannik Sinner does not shine, but beats 7-5 6-3 after two Borna Coric.
