American tennis star Madison Keys has had good start to the 2022 season but she stays winning off the court as well as a few days ago she handed out another Medal of Kindness.
In 2020, former world No. 7 Keys was one of the founders of a non-profit organization called Kindness Wins.
The organization has a goal of spreading kindness around the world and recognized those individuals who are striving to make the world a better place to live.
While in Charleston for a WTA event, Keys handed out a Medal of Kindness award to a junior tennis advocate and Community Program Development Manager at the United States Tennis Association (USTA), April Gift.
So far, Keys has handed out four Kindness Wins awards.
Keys: Gift does so much and she deserves to be recognized
“I was so touched when I learned how much April does for the tennis community of Charleston, specifically all the time and effort she puts into outreach for juniors,” Keys explained, per Tennis365.
“She works tirelessly to get more young people playing the sport which is not only great for tennis but also great for the kids to get out and have fun doing something new.
“The Medal of Kindness is all about honouring those who do so much out of the goodness of their hearts, and that’s exactly what April does.”
Meanwhile, Keys didn’t enjoy a deep run in her first clay tournament of the season.
After a first round bye in Charleston, Keys defeated Ulrikke Eikeri easily in straight sets.
After an easy opener at the tournament, Keys stumbled upon former world No. 4 Belinda Bencic.
Unfortunately for Keys, that was the end of her Charleston campaign as Bencic claimed a routine 6-4 6-4 win.
After beating Keys in the round-of-16, Bencic went on to win three more matches and lift her maiden clay title in Charleston.
